Gothenburg, Sweden (April 24, 2026) – Frontgrade Gaisler, a world leader in embedded computer systems for space and harsh environments, is introducing the radiation-hardened GR765, a highly versatile octa-core SoC implementing both NOEL-V RISC-V and LEON5 SPARCv8e processor cores.

To fully leverage this architecture, industry leaders are contributing complementary software components that will help build a cohesive ecosystem around the processor.

As part of this effort - carried out within a European Space Agency project - embedded brains is extending the RTEMS SMP Qualification Data Pack (QDP) to include the GR765. This addition will offer mission integrators a fully qualified real‑time operating environment while also supporting long‑term maintainability and reliability.

Furthermore, Frontgrade Gaisler has recently launched two flight software components: GRDRV, a qualified software driver library, and GRBOOT‑GR765, qualified boot software. While further developments are ongoing, these elements contribute to a shared vision: a qualified end‑to‑end software stack that can support the GR765 in both SPARC and RISC‑V configurations.

“Achieving a complete, qualified software ecosystem is a multi‑step journey, and collaboration is key,” said Sandi Habinc, General Manager at Frontgrade Gaisler. “This approach is essential for creating a dependable software ecosystem that mission designers can rely upon.”

“Frontgrade Gaisler’s GR765 redefines what’s possible for European space processing, and RTEMS is the natural partner for its software ecosystem” said Thomas Doerfler, General Manager at embedded brains. ”Our collaboration doesn’t just adapt an RTOS—it creates a qualified, maintainable foundation that combines open standards with commercial support, ensuring technological sovereignty for Europe’s space industry.“

Both companies share a commitment to adaptability: ensuring that the ecosystem can grow with customer needs while supporting long-term mission assurance.
