A frame contract with the amount of 500' 000 Euro has been signed by Gaisler Research and the European Space Agency. The aim of the contract is to maintain and support the fault tolerant version of the LEON2 processor and to implement the fault tolerant functions for the successor LEON3.
    -   This contract will formalize the maintenance and support that we provide to the European space industry for the LEON2 processor. The contact will also secure the development of the successor LEON3, which is more performant and also more suitable for System on a Chip (SoC) designs, says Jiri Gaisler the CTO and founder of Gaisler Research AB.
The commercial version of LEON3 was released in October 2004. The processor is more performant than the LEON2 processor, achieving up to 400 MHz on a 0.13 um process. The LEON3 together with the GRLIB IP-library is ideally suited SoC designs and implements plug and play capabilities, minimizing the engineering effort during the design phase.
