Contract awarded for further development of the LEON3 processor platform for Galileo and GPS receivers

A contract with the amount of 165000 Euro has been signed by Gaisler Research and the Swedish National Space Board. The aim of the development is to extend the existing processor platform built on the Gaisler Research LEON3 processor and the Floating Point Unit (GRFPU), tailored for Galileo and GPS applications. Gaisler Research AB is awarded a contract for extending it's generic processor platform for Galileo and GPS receiver. A contract with the amount of 165000 Euro has been signed by Gaisler Research and the Swedish National Space Board. The aim of the development is to extend the current processor platform built on Gaisler Research's LEON3 processor and Floating Point Unit (GRFPU). The platform has been tailored for Galileo and GPS applications.

The processor platform extensions will take into account the requirements of commercial receivers with applications ranging from consumer to aerospace. Focus will be placed increasing the processor performance, accelerate signal processing, reduce power consumption and adding new consumer product interfaces. The resulting SoC system will be easy to integrate with existing and future GPS and Galileosat front-ends and thus providing an ideal solution for companies developing and producing receivers.
