GR701A - PCI to SpaceWire and 1553 Bridge


The GR701A PCI to SpaceWire and 1553 Bridge has been developed as a companion chip for AT697 SPARC V8 processor and other systems with PCI interfaces. The chip provides a complete solution with three SpaceWire links, redundant Mil-Std-1553B interfaces, redundant CAN-2.0 interfaces, two UARTs, I/O port and interface to external memory. All the blocks and interfaces are currently used in European and US space programs and have been successfully validated and qualified. The Mil-Std-1553B and PCI blocks are on Actel IP cores, where as all other blocks including the SpaceWire are designed by Aeroflex Gaisler.

The GR701A is available as a standard component using the Actel RTAX2000S Field Programmable Gate Array. The design is fault tolerant and in combination with the radiation tolerant FPGA this gives a total immunity to radiation effects. This makes it ideally suited for space and other high-rel applications.

Custom configurations

In addition to the pre-defined configuration, it is possible to order GR701A device with custom configuration. Such configuration can also include IP core from the GRLIB IP library. An NRE cost will be charged for the development of each custom configuration.


Device and packaging

The GR701A devices are shipped as pre-programmed and tested parts in all quality levels supported by Actel. Available packages are CQFP352 and CCGA624.
